The following classification scheme was utilized when calculating county officials:

  • County officials are identified as those in elected positions who are not judges, prosecutors, or sheriffs
  • Ceremonial counties without government are not counted
  • Merged city-county governments and independent cities are considered to be municipal officials
  • Sheriffs and Attorneys/Prosecutors are each counted separately
